Introduction
All aboard for one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys. On this exciting Switzerland trip, you’ll travel through the stunning Swiss countryside. It’s a gem of a trip featuring life in tiny villages and sophisticated cities, not to mention Zermatt with it's cosy, typical Swiss appeal.
Day 1:
Welcome to Zürich
Zürich is the starting place for a terrific journey around Switzerland. This afternoon, join a social impact guided walking tour and sustainable chocolate tasting to learn about the city's rich history, modern flair, and social solidarity. Attend a Welcome Reception this evening to kick off your Swiss holiday.
Day 2:
Onwards by Train to St. Moritz
Our love affair with the snow-capped Alps of Switzerland begins with a gorgeous train ride via Chur to the upmarket resort of St. Moritz, set against the breathtaking Lake St. Moritz background. Take in the scenery and perhaps traverse the Bernina pass on one of Switzerland's most spectacular rail lines this afternoon before enjoying St. Moritz at your leisure this evening.
Day 3:
Catch the Glacier Express to Zermatt
Adorn yourself in the splendour and romance of a bygone era. Take in the beautiful alpine views from the luxury of the Glacier Express as you chug along one of the world's most incredible rail journeys. Hundreds of bridges and the Oberalp Pass at 6,700 feet (2,044 m) above sea level must be crossed. Enjoy a buffet lunch on board as you drive through lakes and glaciers to Zermatt, a resort town on the slopes of the beautiful Matterhorn. Your Tour Director will take you on a city tour.
Day 4:
Zermatt at Leisure
For the duration of your free day, take in Zermatt's stunning views and crisp mountain air. Take an optional excursion to the Klein Matterhorn if you want to enjoy the most spectacular alpine landscapes.
Day 5:
A Train Journey to Lakeside Geneva Connect with Locals
We board a train to Vevey and Connect With Locals in Chexbres on the shores of Lake Geneva, paying tribute to the city's centuries-old watchmaking traditions. Later, explore the sights of this lakeside city on your own. Stroll through the ancient maze of medieval streets and quiet squares or consider a cruise – enjoying views of the lakeside villages.
Day 6:
Journey on the Golden and Brünig Pass to Interlaken and Lucerne
Picture-perfect beauty surrounds us as we traverse the Golden Pass road from Geneva. Take in the breathtaking views of the Bernese Oberland and Brünig Pass as you journey from Interlaken to lakefront Lucerne. Visit the iconic Chapel Bridge and the moving Lion Monument during your orientation tour, both of which were created in honour of the Swiss Guards who heroically defended Louis XVI during the French Revolution. The evening is yours to spend whatever you like, though you might choose to show off your singing skills and learn how to yodel during an optional amusing Swiss folklore demonstration with dinner.
Day 7:
Explore Medieval Lucerne
Mountain peaks surround you as you enjoy a leisurely day in picturesque lakeside Lucerne. Consider an Optional Experience to a neighbouring Mountain Peak, visit the mediaeval alleyways, and shop for wonderful Swiss Chocolate. Before our Farewell Dinner, you may like to participate in an Optional Experience riding a carriage through one of Switzerland's most beautiful mountain communities.
Day 8:
Journey Home
We bid Switzerland and our newfound friends farewell at the end of an unforgettable Swiss vacation. Your Travel Director will provide you with train tickets from Lucerne to Zürich Airport, which you can use for your onward travel on the last day of the tour.

All guests travelling with Trafalgar through December 31, 2022 are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, which may include a booster shot to keep the vaccination status current and valid, depending on the travel destination.
